Definition of ‘Tux’
Tux is the ‘official’ Linux mascot. It was Linus Torvalds himself who first mentioned the idea of a penguin logo, and went on to explain that he had in mind a happy, no-nonsense penguin: Now, with penguins, (cuddly such), ‘contented’ means it has either just gotten laid, or it's stuffed on herring. Take it from me, I'm an expert on penguins, those are really the only two options. After that Larry Ewing came up with the now famous picture of Tux, which has become the defacto face of Linux. Now he (or she?) is to be found on Linux desktops, Linux CDs, Linux websites and even Linux Games everywhere. Related Links |
